We had dinner there on a quiet Tuesday night in June (09) and had the best ever prime rib. The serving looked more like a strip steak with next to no fat and a healthy serving of side dishes. We were entertaining friends from the East Coast and now that they've returned this year in October, their first request was a reservation at Romance Restaurant. The next month we had a great holiday brunch there on July 4th and while it was the first time I've ever had the Chilaquiles, I can't wait for another serving some weekend. Another night we ate at the bar with the undivided attention of Roberto and Cathy and that was pleasant too. I can't say enough about the ambiance and food and, having moved from the New York and Philadelphia area where new restaurants pop up all the time, it's great to have a new high quality location that need not be for a special occasion. Never a bad meal at this location so --- WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE! DEECH

This new place, only 3 days old, is absolutely fantastic! We are very discerning diners and, therefore, were hopeful, but not optimistic, as we made our first reservation, on a Friday night. We were more than pleasantly surprised at everything: The decor....beautiful, simple, romantic, cozy, comfortable. The service: About as good as it gets....attentive, yet not intrusive. We are gourmet vegan, so we had very specific questions about the food that needed to be answered. Even as a new restaurant, everyone was more than willing to make sure all of our questions were answered accurately, from our server to the chef to the owners, The chef then whipped up a fabulous appetizer for us, and the entree that followed was superb. The mole sauce is a must-try. It is rich and spicy and a bit sweet, yet very clean-tasting (no chicken broth). The best mole sauce we've ever had. Now to the music: FABULOUS. Sultry, sexy jazz....not overbearing, just a perfect backdrop to a wonderful evening. The Amarone wine we chose was good. The Argentinan Malbec was ok too. The desserts were very good. Prices extremely reasonable. We are very lucky to have a classy restaurant like this, finally, in San Clemente. Please go there: We want them to stay.
